In the 1950 and 60s, Kowloon was the home of Hong Kong's textile industry; spinners, weavers, knitters and dyers supplied a global market with beautiful silks and cottons.
The factories are gone, but I have access to an archive of silk brocade from one such mill. These fabrics are part of Hong Kong's heritage, and the quality and designs are as fresh today as when they were first produced.
I have used these fabrics to make clothing, cushions, lampshades and other soft furnishings and accessories. Please note they are very delicate and not suitable to any application of high wear. Fabric widths vary from approx. 33 inches - 45 inches (approx. 83cm - 114cm). Sold by the yard. Prices range from HKD450/yard - HKD1200/yard.
